Mobile phone maker Nokia plans to launch a tablet that runs on Microsoft Windows operating system in the summer of 2012, the head of Nokia France Les Echos said in an interview published Wednesday.
Nokia said the use of Microsoft Windows for 8 tablets could be an interesting opportunity for the company, but has not yet revealed any release plan.
Compete with the Apple iPad tablet.
"In June 2012, we have a tablet that runs on Windows 8," said Paul Amsellem the newspaper.
When asked to comment on the report, a spokesman for Nokia said: "We have not announced any concrete plans, as these tablets."
Nokia unveiled last month two new Microsoft Windows smartphones in time for Christmas, a first step in the fight against the back of mobile phone manufacturer in trouble against Apple and Google.
